Brake Component Damage

The picture says it all...    We recently acquired a new customer . Needless to say, their prior service company's

Preventive Maintenance Schedule did not cover inspecting the brakes.

The operator complained that while braking, the lift truck would pull to the right. Due to the noise levels in the facility,

the operator could not hear the metal to metal noise.

Always follow these tips:

  1. Before driving , check brake pedal height and feel.

  2. Test brakes to make sure they do not pull to the left or right.

  3. Listen for noise when applying brakes. Drive outside in a quite area if noisy inside.

  4. Look for any signs of brake fluid leakage on the ground or adding brake fluid continuously.

  5. Make sure the Parking Brake applies properly and releases fully, not binding up.

Park and lock out the Lift Truck if any of the above problems arise. Immediately report to your supervisor, and have them call   Shepherd`s Industrial Truck Repair, Inc.
